Chernivtsi Holy Spirit Cathedral marks patronal feast

On June 1, 2026, the Feast of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, celebrations marking the patronal feast of Holy Spirit Cathedral were held in Chernivtsi. Thousands of faithful took part in the festive service, according to the official Facebook page of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy of the UOC.

The Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna. Concelebrating with him were Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny, Metropolitan Euseviy of Shepetivka and Slavuta, Archbishop Veniamin of Khotyn, Bishop Iov of Kitsman, clergy of the cathedral, clerics of the eparchy, and invited priests.

During the service, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, deliverance from the enemy, and help for the suffering, the destitute, and all those who have lost their homes. The faithful also asked the Lord to strengthen the people and grant them hope, peace, and spiritual fortitude.

The eparchy noted that the patronal feast gathered numerous pilgrims and parishioners, bearing witness to the unity of Bukovyna’s Orthodox faithful and their loyalty to the canonical Church.

After the Liturgy, the hierarchs, clergy, and laity held a procession of the cross around the cathedral. During the procession, the Gospel was read, festal hymns were sung, and worshippers were sprinkled with holy water.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a cathedral in Kherson damaged by shelling had celebrated its patronal feast.
