On June 4, 2026, a forum was held in Oleksandriia at the spiritual and educational center named after Saints Boris and Gleb, where unique studies on Orthodox local history from the 18th to the 21st centuries were presented. This was reported by the UOC Information Center.
Clergy and historians focused on the anniversary dates of the consecration of churches in the former Oleksandriia district, which today are part of the eparchy.
Participants in the readings examined in detail the history of three landmark shrines marking major anniversaries this year. February 25 marked 220 years since the founding of the Transfiguration Church in the village of Talova Balka, while in the autumn the faithful will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Church of Joseph the Betrothed in Berezivka and the 130th anniversary of the Church of the Protection of the Mother of God in Oleksandriia itself.
In addition to the eparchy’s anniversary dates, speakers presented little-known facts about the lives of local saints who carried out their ministry in these lands in different historical periods.
Those gathered stressed that preserving church heritage is a foundation for the development of regional studies and the strengthening of faith in modern society.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the foundation of a church destroyed by the Bolsheviks was accidentally discovered in Poltava.
