Metropolitan Agafangel leads jubilee graduation ceremony at Odesa seminary

On June 7, 2024, Odesa Theological Seminary held solemn events marking its 80th graduating class. The ceremony was led by Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail, the UOC Information Center reported.

Seminary rector Archpriest Dimitry opened the gathering and welcomed the guests of the theological school. Archimandrite Tikhon, secretary of the OTS council, delivered a report on the results of the final examinations and the students’ achievements during the academic year.

On behalf of the graduates, Archpriest Anatoliy Terletsky and Daniil Zorilo addressed words of gratitude to the teachers and mentors. Anastasia Kasym, representing the choir-directing and icon-painting departments, thanked the school’s leadership for the knowledge they had received and for its care.

Metropolitan Agafangel addressed the graduates with words of guidance. The hierarch called on the young people to preserve fidelity to Orthodox traditions and to serve the Church and the people of God.

At the close of the ceremony, Metropolitan Agafangel presented the graduates with diplomas confirming their completion of seminary studies. The archpastor also awarded certificates of merit to students who had shown particular academic success and active participation in the life of the theological school.

As the UOJ reported, Odesa recently marked the 80th anniversary of the revival of its theological seminary.
