The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius, has addressed the archpastors, clergy, monastics, and laity with an appeal to provide assistance to the Kherson Diocese, which continues to bear the heavy consequences of war. This is reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
In his address, His Beatitude noted that Kherson and the settlements of the region are regularly subjected to shelling, due to which many people have lost their homes, their usual way of life, and their means of livelihood. Along with the residents of the region, the Church also suffers.
«The Holy Spirit Cathedral of the city of Kherson was damaged, churches in the city and region were damaged, as well as parish buildings and church structures. Among the clergy of the Kherson Diocese there are dead and wounded», – the address states.
Metropolitan Onuphrius emphasized that the clergy of the diocese continue their pastoral ministry even under conditions of constant danger, supporting people with prayer, words of comfort, and active assistance.
In this regard, the Primate called on all believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church who have the opportunity to join the collection of charitable aid for the Kherson Diocese, as well as to intensify prayers for peace in Ukraine and for those who suffer from military actions.
