A social media post published by a regional branch of European Solidarity, the party led by Petro Poroshenko, has sparked controversy online. The authors wrote: “The Word of God in the hands of a patriot is a shield, but the word in the mouth of a Moscow priest is an enemy bullet!”
Commenters reacted sharply to the statement.
“The Word of God in the hands of a patriot is nothing more than blotting paper that protects neither from the wind nor from a bullet!” wrote Viktor Oliinyk.
“Barabbas was a patriot chosen by the people to be saved, while Christ, whom they rejected, was crucified,” commented Vlad Rusych.
“The Word of God cannot be ‘in someone’s hands’... Nonsense,” wrote Lilia Protsiuk.
“Can a person with a healthy mind really write something like this?” asked Kateryna Fairushena.
“They are still playing the patriotism game! It is a pity that people fall for it!” wrote Tania Posunko.
The party did not respond to the criticism in the comments.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to a European Solidarity lawmaker, the party’s goal is to ensure that there are no UOC communities left in Kyiv Region.
