On June 17, 2026, Member of Parliament Mykola Tyshchenko released exclusive footage from the roof of the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where, according to Ukrainian authorities, a Russian Geran drone struck the building. Tyshchenko published the video on his Facebook page.
The MP's footage shows that the roofing, originally made of copper sheets, is completely absent from the roof. At the same time, the metal structures and beams to which the roofing sheets were originally attached have been preserved.
The footage shows that the cathedral’s roofing, originally made of copper sheets, is completely absent. At the same time, the metal framework and beams that had supported the roofing remain intact.
Tyshchenko also showed what workers identified as the exact point of impact. According to them, the strike occurred near the base of one of the cathedral’s domes on the northern side of the church. The footage shows several damaged bricks in the masonry, but no major structural destruction is visible.
As the UOJ previously reported, the abbot of the Lavra commented on the shelling of the Dormition Cathedral.
