Political expert Kostiantyn Bondarenko commented on the strike against the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Citing his sources in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, he said, it was fragments from a downed Russian drone that fell on the Lavra's Dormition Cathedral. Bondarenko said this on the YouTube channel "Alexander Shelest."

According to Bondarenko's source, the drone's engine landed near the Refectory Church, several fragments hit the Dormition Cathedral, and a substantial amount of wreckage fell on the grounds of the adjacent Arsenal complex. Bondarenko argues that the President's Office deliberately launched a large-scale media campaign to use the attack on the holy site for its own political purposes.nformation campaign in order to exploit the strike against the shrine for its own purposes.

He noted that speakers loyal to the authorities were publishing “copy-and-paste” messages, seeking to exploit the tragedy to discredit the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Metropolitan Onuphry personally.

At the same time, Bondarenko emphasized that damage to religious buildings in the course of hostilities is in any case unjustifiable.

As the UOJ reported, the authorities of Ukraine and Russia gave different explanations for the strike on the Lavra.
