In Georgia, a religious procession was held to mark the 1700th anniversary of Christianity

In Georgia, a five-day prayer procession was held from Gorijvari to Mount Tkhoti. The celebration was dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the state religion of the country. This was reported by the Union of Orthodox Journalists in Georgia.

The prayer journey began on June 15 at the Church of the Holy Great Martyr George in Gorijvari. Before the start of the procession, Metropolitan Andrew of Gori and Ateni performed the rite of the Lesser Blessing of Water and gave his blessing to the participants.

Over the course of five days, the faithful and clergy passed through the settlements of Khidistavi, Khovle, Grakali, Teliani, Sasireti, Upper and Lower Khandaki, Metekhi, the city of Kaspi, Mikeltsqaro, and Agaiani.

Official figures took part in the prayer event: the State Representative in the Shida Kartli region Simon Guledani, the Mayor of Gori Konstantin Buzaladze, the Mayor of Kaspi Vakhtang Maisuradze, the chairpersons of local councils, and municipal employees. Metropolitan Andrew thanked those gathered for their shared prayer and wished them a successful spiritual journey.

As the Union of Orthodox Journalists previously reported, Vučić discussed the spiritual ties between the peoples of Serbia and Georgia with Patriarch Shio.
