In Georgia, a five-day prayer procession was held from Gorijvari to Mount Tkhoti. The celebration was dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the state religion of the country, reports the UOJ in Georgia.
The prayer journey began on June 15 at the Church of the Holy Great Martyr George in Gorijvari. Before the start of the procession, Metropolitan Andrew of Gori and Ateni performed the rite of the Lesser Blessing of Water and gave his blessing to the participants.
Over the course of five days, the faithful and clergy passed through the settlements of Khidistavi, Khovle, Grakali, Teliani, Sasireti, Upper and Lower Khandaki, Metekhi, the city of Kaspi, Mikeltsqaro, and Agaiani.
The participants in the religious procession also included government officials: Shida Kartli State Representative Simon Guledani, Gori Mayor Konstantine Buzaladze, Kaspi Mayor Vakhtang Maisuradze, local council chairpersons, and municipal staff. Metropolitan Andrew expressed his gratitude to all those present for their shared prayer and wished them a blessed spiritual journey.
As the UOJ previously reported, Vučić discussed the spiritual ties between the peoples of Serbia and Georgia with Patriarch Shio.
