On July 5, 2026, on the 12th anniversary of the repose of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine, hierarchs and clergy of the UOC offered memorial prayers in his native village and at his burial place at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, reports the UOC Information and Educational Department.

In the hometown of the reposed Primate, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated at St. Michael's Church in the village of Markivtsi, Khmelnytskyi region. The service was led by Metropolitan Nikodym of Zhytomyr and Novohrad-Volynskyi.

He was co-served by Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Vinnytsia and Bar, Metropolitan Viktor of Khmelnytsky and Starokostiantyniv, local clergy, and guests in holy orders. After the Liturgy, the clergy served a panikhida for His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr.

The bishops addressed the faithful with words of remembrance for the late Primate. They recalled his many years of service to the Church, his love for people, his wisdom, humility, and his faithfulness to Christ and to the Ukrainian people.

The hierarchs and clergy also visited the local cemetery, where the parents of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr – Markiyan and Feodosia Sabodan – as well as his relatives are buried. At their graves, Metropolitan Viktor served a memorial litiya, after which the archpastors visited the house where the future Primate of the UOC was born.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the late Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was commemorated at the Lavra and in the Khmelnytskyi Eparchy.
