Polish Member of the European Parliament Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik was added to the Ukrainian Myrotvorets website database on July 8, 2026, after speaking at a European Parliament session criticizing the UPA and tearing up the red-and-black flag. The MEP reported this on her Facebook page.
The incident took place during parliamentary debates on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. Zajączkowska called for rejecting the “criminal ideologies” of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the UPA and “throwing them in the trash.” According to her, “there is no place in the EU for countries that glorify the murderers of Polish citizens.” She also criticized Zelensky’s decision to create a Pantheon of Heroes.
After her entry appeared in the database, Zajączkowska-Hernik addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. She delivered a message to him “on behalf of millions of Poles”: EU accession is incompatible with glorifying OUN and UPA figures, and Polish citizens “will never agree” to Ukraine’s admission to the European Union under its current policy of historical memory.
Myrotvorets is a Ukrainian website that publishes the personal data of individuals its administrators consider threats to Ukraine’s national security. Foreign politicians, journalists, and public figures who criticize memory policy linked to the OUN and UPA are regularly added to the database. Earlier, the chairman of Israel’s Yad Vashem institute was added to the database for criticizing the glorification of Stepan Bandera and OUN-M leader Andrii Melnyk.
As the UOJ previously reported, a fresco of Bandera in a UGCC cathedral in Ternopil was shown online.
