His Beatitude led the celebrations on the feast day of Anthony of the Caves

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy led the solemn divine service at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra on the feast day of Venerable Anthony of the Caves. The festal Liturgy was celebrated on July 23, 2026, in the church dedicated to Venerable Agapitus of the Caves. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

The Primate of the UOC was concelebrated by the Administrator of the Affairs of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, the Head of the Information and Educational Department of the UOC, Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, as well as a host of hierarchs and the clergy of the monastery. During the service, the brotherly choir of the Lavra sang under the direction of Archimandrite Polycarp (Linenko).

During the litany of fervent supplication, the participants of the service offered prayers for peace on Ukrainian soil and deliverance from the enemy. His Beatitude asked God for mercy upon the people, wisdom for the authorities, and courage for the soldiers, as well as for the release of captives and the healing of the sick. At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the clergy performed the rite of glorification with a prayer to Venerable Anthony of the Caves, the founder of monasticism in Rus'.

At the close of the celebration, the Primate congratulated Metropolitan Anthony on his heavenly patron's feast day. His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony addressed those present with a word of gratitude and sprinkled the faithful with holy water.

As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, on the eve of the feast day of the founder of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy led the All-Night Vigil in the church of Venerable Agapitus.
