The Chortkiv District Military Administration has transferred the Catholic church building in the village of Verkhniakivtsi to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church for free use, the administration reported on Facebook.

The decision to transfer the property to the Parish of St. Paraskeva of Ternovo, part of the Buchach Diocese of the UGCC, was formalized through the signing of the relevant act on July 22, 2026.

The commission meeting was chaired by Volodymyr Shypitko, head of the Chortkiv District Military Administration, acting under directives issued by the regional and district authorities. The document was signed on behalf of the religious organization by its rector, Mykhailo Mankut.

Under the transfer and acceptance act, the building was handed over to the Uniates for free use, thereby legally assigning the church to the Buchach Diocese of the UGCC.

As the UOJ previously reported, construction of a UGCC church has resumed in Kyiv despite protests from local residents.
