Authorities host a tour of Lavra for U.S. diplomats

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was visited by a delegation from the U.S. Congress Helsinki Commission and the American Embassy. The diplomats arrived at the monastery to inspect sites damaged as a result of hostilities.

The Reserve's Director General Maksym Ostapenko showed the foreign guests the Dormition Cathedral and described the consequences of the attack on the Lavra that took place on the night of June 15. The delegation members inspected the site of the strike drone's impact and assessed the scale of the destruction inflicted on the cathedral.

The American group included Helsinki Commission representative Janice Helwig, U.S. Embassy diplomat Owen Jones, as well as advisors Nate Sibley and Connor Lewis. In addition to inspecting the damage, the guests were shown an exhibition on the history of the destruction and restoration of the monastery’s main cathedral. The visit concluded with a visit to the Refectory Church. The tour concluded with a visit to the Refectory Church.

Previously, the authorities have already used the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra for various political and public events. In particular, a presentation of radical combat units was held in the Refectory Church of the Lavra. At the same time, representatives of the state reserve continue to actively acquaint Western partners with the current state of the monastery's architectural ensemble.

As the UOJ reported, the authorities conducted a tour of the Lavra for the head of the European Commission.
