Metropolitan Boholep of Oleksandriia and Svitlovodsk blessed the site for the construction of a new church dedicated to St. Spyridon of Trimythous. The new church will be built on the grounds of the Transfiguration Monastery in the village of Talova Balka, according to the UOC Information Center.
The blessing of the site and the laying of the foundation stone took place on August 1, 2026, the feast day of St. Seraphim of Sarov. The celebrations began with the Divine Liturgy, during which clergy and faithful offered special prayers for peace in Ukraine, for the country's defenders, and for all those suffering because of the war.
Concelebrating with the metropolitan were the eparchy's spiritual father and abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Seraphim (Krasnov), together with the deans of the Svitlovodsk, Onufriivka, and Oleksandriia church districts.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the participants processed in a cross procession to the site of the future church. There, Metropolitan Boholep celebrated the rite of the church's foundation, sprinkled the site with holy water, and invoked God's blessing upon the undertaking. He also congratulated the monastery's abbot on the feast day of his heavenly patron and addressed the faithful with an archpastoral message.
As previously reported by the UOJ, a foundation capsule was recently laid for the construction of a new UOC church in the village of Mokrets.
