On the evening of August 4, 2026, on the eve of the feast of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God, celebrations in honor of one of the most venerated shrines of the Orthodox Church began at the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra.

The festive service started with the reading of an akathist before the miraculous Pochaiv Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos. Afterwards, an All-Night Vigil was celebrated at the Lavra's Transfiguration Cathedral.

The service was led by Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets. He was concelebrated by hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as well as numerous clergy.

Annually, on the feast day of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God, tens of thousands of pilgrims from across Ukraine arrive at the Lavra. The main celebrations will take place on August 5, when a festive Divine Liturgy will be celebrated before the miraculous icon.

As the UOJ reported, several thousand pilgrims are taking part in the prayer procession from Volhynia to Pochaiv.
