Lviv Mayor Invited UOC Hierarch to the Consecration of a Rehabilitation Center
Metropolitan Filaret of Lviv took part in the opening of a new rehabilitation building in Lviv. City Mayor Andriy Sadovyi opened the ceremonial event and expressed gratitude to Metropolitan Filaret for his significant contribution to the development of the Lviv community.
During the ceremony, the hierarch read out the official church act on the transfer of the building to the First Territorial Medical Association, and also addressed those present with words of guidance and blessing. The transfer of the building took place by decision of the Holy Synod in April 2023, when the premises of the former Resurrectionist monastery, which belonged to the Lviv Diocese by right of ownership, were transferred to the Lviv community.
The new building for the UNBROKEN center, with an area of 3,500 square meters, is located on Pekarska Street in the central part of Lviv. The medical facility, named the "Hospital of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos," is intended for the comprehensive rehabilitation of military personnel and civilians who have suffered as a result of hostilities.
The restoration and full equipping of this rehabilitation building was made possible through grant support from the Government of Taiwan. The corresponding agreement, worth 5 million euros, was signed by city authorities in December 2024. The allocated funds were directed toward a large-scale restoration of the building, so that even more seriously wounded defenders could receive quality medical care in comfortable conditions.
The event was also attended by representatives of the regional state council, the regional military administration, People's Deputies of Ukraine, as well as the mayor of the German city of Freiburg, which serves as an official partner of the UNBROKEN program.
Previously, the SPJ reported that Sadovyi thanked all those who helped bring an end to the existence of the UOC in the city.
