The Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, met in Kyiv with Metropolitan Grigorije of Düsseldorf and Germany, UOJ in Germany reports.
The personal meeting between the UOC Primate and the Serbian Church hierarch took place on August 7, 2026, and lasted about five hours. The hierarchs spoke in an atmosphere of brotherly love, mutual trust and deep spiritual communion. Metropolitan Grigorije later shared deeply personal impressions of their conversation.
The hierarch said that during the meeting he had the feeling that he was “pouring out his soul in confession to a saint.” According to the bishop, it was this encounter that gave his long journey to the Ukrainian capital its true meaning.
“Holy people are truly worth seeking out – even if you have to travel around the whole world to find them,” the bishop said.
Metropolitan Grigorije has headed the Diocese of Düsseldorf and Germany since 2018.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a Serbian Church hierarch had visited Sumy to support the UOC.
