SESS Has Launched an Affiliation Check of the Zaporizhzhia Diocese with Moscow
The Zaporizhzhia Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) has become the subject of an inspection regarding its ties to Moscow. This was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience.
According to the agency's statement, SESS specialists have begun an investigation to determine whether the administration of the Zaporizhzhia Diocese of the UOC is subordinate to a "foreign religious organization."
At the time of publication, the Zaporizhzhia Diocese of the UOC had not officially commented on the initiated inspection.
As the UOJ reported, the SESS has already
, after which the monastery faced the threat of a ban on its activities. Similar inspections regarding ties to Moscow have already affected several dioceses and monasteries of the UOC across Ukraine.
