Thousands of Faithful Attended the Divine Service at the Anninsky Monastery

On August 14, 2026, on the feast of the Procession of the Venerable Wood of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord and the day of commemoration of the Holy Maccabean Martyrs, Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets led the Divine Liturgy at the Anninsky Women's Monastery in the city of Vashkivtsi, Chernivtsi region. This was reported by a correspondent of the UOJ.

His Grace was co-served by Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna, Metropolitan Klyment of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Metropolitan Volodymyr of Pochaiv, Archbishop Veniamin of Khotyn, Bishop Kleopa of Novoselytsia, Bishop Nikita of Ivano-Frankivsk and Kolomyia, as well as clergy from various eparchies.

The abbess of the monastery, Hegumeness Augusta (Vereshko), together with the sisters of the monastery, hegumnesses and nuns of the women's monasteries of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy, and numerous pilgrims prayed at the divine service. The hierarchs and clergy offered prayers for peace on Ukrainian soil, for deliverance from the enemy, for the preservation of those who have lost their homes, and for assistance to those in need.

At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Serhiy performed the blessing of honey and herbs. The hierarchs then sprinkled with holy water the numerous faithful who had come to the monastery for the patronal feast.

As the UOJ reported, from early morning the faithful began ascending Annyna Hora to the monastery, with hundreds of pilgrims making the ascent on their knees.
