The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov presented the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th Class, to the head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, reports the UGCC press service.

The officials awarded the Uniate leader in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 532/2026 of June 26, 2026, signed by Volodymyr Zelensky. The state authorities conferred this award for "significant merits in strengthening Ukrainian statehood, courage and selflessness demonstrated in the defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, a substantial personal contribution to the development of various spheres of public life, and conscientious fulfillment of professional duty."

Upon receiving the order, Sviatoslav Shevchuk thanked the representatives of the authorities for the high state award. The head of the UGCC also emphasized that this award belongs not to him personally but to the entire structure he leads. Following the award ceremony, representatives of the Office of the President and bishops of the UGCC held a joint meeting.

As the UOJ reported, Shevchuk told Budanov about the "state-forming role" of the UGCC.
