Armed radicals from the Fulani tribe killed more than thirty believers in the central regions of Nigeria. The nomads carried out a series of nighttime raids on peaceful Christian settlements in three states of the country, reports the Morning Star News.

In Plateau State, the attackers ravaged five Christian villages in the Riyom area. The radicals broke into the homes of sleeping residents, opened fire, and set residential buildings ablaze. As a result of these attacks, the nomads killed sixteen Christians, including children aged three months, three, eight, and ten years old. In the village of Torok, nomads together with hired bandits shot and killed former local legislator David Dachollom Danjuma.

In the neighboring Nasarawa State, armed radicals ambushed and killed 48-year-old Christian youth leader Philibuss Usman Kudge as he was returning from a church event. And in Benue State, thousands of believers gathered for the funeral of fifteen Christians who were shot by militants in their own homes during a morning raid on the Efeyi community.

Human rights advocates from the organization Open Doors placed Nigeria in the top ten countries with the highest level of Christian persecution. According to the report, between autumn 2024 and autumn 2025, militants killed 3,490 Christians in the country, accounting for seventy-two percent of the total number of people killed for their faith worldwide. Local leaders emphasize that extremists seek to forcibly seize the lands of believers and impose Islam.

As the UOJ reported, the U.S. blocked financial support for Nigeria over persecution of Christians.
