On August 19, the newly appointed ambassadors of Bulgaria, Estonia, India, and Germany visited the National Nature Reserve "Sophia of Kyiv" before presenting their credentials to President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by the reserve's press service.

The diplomats were given a tour of the 11th-century St. Sophia Cathedral, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The guests were told about the history of the monument and the features of its architecture.

During the visit, the ambassadors examined the mosaics and frescoes of the cathedral. Representatives of the reserve also informed them about the current challenges related to the preservation of Ukraine's cultural heritage.

After the tour, the diplomats proceeded to the credential presentation ceremony. Zelensky accepted the documents from the new ambassadors and congratulated them on the beginning of their diplomatic work in Ukraine.

The reserve stated that such visits are used, among other things, to draw international attention to the issues of preserving Ukrainian monuments.

Earlier, the SPJ reported that on August 17, Ukrainian officials presented their vision for the future of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra ahead of its millennium in 2051, describing the monastery as, among other things, a "center of political thought" and diplomacy.
