His Beatitude celebrated the Liturgy on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord
On August 19, 2026, on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Onufriy led the Divine Liturgy at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
The festal service was held in the church of the Venerable Agapitus of the Caves. The Primate was co-served by Archbishop Mark of Borodyanka and the clergy of the monastery.
After the reading of the Gospel, His Beatitude addressed the faithful with a sermon. During the Liturgy, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, for aid to those who have suffered, for the release of prisoners, for the healing of the sick, and for the strengthening of soldiers.
During the service, the Primate ordained Georgiy Yursha as a deacon. He will serve at the Kyiv church of Saint Joasaph of Belgorod.
After the Liturgy, His Beatitude Onufriy read the prayers for the blessing of the fruits of the new harvest and sprinkled the faithful with holy water, as well as the grapes and fruits they had brought.
