On August 19, the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord was celebrated at the UOC Slatina Convent in Krasnoilsk with a hierarchical Divine Liturgy attended by clergy and monastics of the Romanian Orthodox Church, a UOJ correspondent reports.
The Divine Liturgy in the monastery’s main church was presided over by Metropolitan Sergiy of Ternopil and Kremenets. Concelebrating with him were the monastery’s builder, Mitred Archpriest Pavel Pavlenko, UOC clergy, and visiting Romanian clergy.
Abbesses and nuns from monasteries of the Romanian Orthodox Church also came to share the joy of the monastery’s patronal feast with its abbess, Hegumena Ioanna.
During the Liturgy, the clergy and faithful prayed for peace in the Ukrainian land, deliverance from the enemy, those who have lost their homes, and those helping people in need.
Following the service, Metropolitan Sergiy congratulated the abbess, clergy, and faithful on the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord and delivered a sermon. At the conclusion, the hierarch blessed grapes, apples, and other fruits.
Earlier, UOJ reported that clergy of the UOC and Romanian Orthodox Church celebrated the patronal feast of a monastery in Kolinkivtsi.
