The Supreme Court Has Scheduled a Hearing in the Case of Koretsky Monastery
The Supreme Court has set a date for the hearing on the petition of the Koretsky women's monastery of the UOC. The panel of judges of the Cassation Administrative Court will consider in an open session the religious organization's request to clarify the ruling on the lawsuit seeking to terminate its activities. This was reported by the SESS website.
In June 2026, the highest judicial instance dismissed the appeal of the stavropegial monastery. Previously, representatives of the monastery had appealed the appellate court's decision of March 1, 2026. Following this, the monastery applied to the Supreme Court with a request to clarify the verdict in the case initiated by SESS officials. The state agency is seeking through the courts to completely terminate the activities of this women's monastery.
In preparation for the appellate review, the reporting judge requested the case materials, which were received by the Supreme Court on August 18, 2026. Under current legislation, the consideration of such petitions follows the same procedure as that used for the original judicial decision. The judges will hold an open session with the summoning of the parties.
The panel of judges also obligated SESS to publish a notice of the proceedings on its official website. Officials must immediately notify the Cassation Administrative Court of compliance with this requirement. The hearing will begin on September 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the court building in Kyiv.
As the UOJ reported, SESS initiated a lawsuit for the liquidation of Koretsky Monastery. The state agency is seeking through the courts to completely terminate the activities of this women's monastery.
