OCU “priest” and blogger Oleksii Filiuk stated that Orthodox Christians can become parishioners of Uniate churches, and that this would not be considered a sin.

He made this statement while responding to a question from the owner of the Instagram channel autodim_ternopil.

The man recounted that he used to attend an Orthodox church together with his mother, but after his grandmother's death they began attending a Uniate church, as it is closer. He is now concerned about whether such a decision constitutes a sin.

In response, Filiuk said that “God is one, and there are many churches in the world.”

“One cannot say that this is a sin. If we live according to the commandments, we will meet there, in heaven. And here a person goes where they want, where it is closer, wherever their heart leads them,” the OCU cleric replied.

According to Filyuk, one should go “not to a church, not to a priest, but to God” – it is precisely this, rather than belonging to a particular denomination, that determines whether a person will meet God “in heaven.” The OCU cleric described condemning people for switching parishes from Orthodox to Uniate as ordinary “female thinking,” which has nothing to do with God’s thoughts.

He advised his interlocutor not to pay attention to fellow villagers’ claims that his grandmother is “turning over in her grave” because he changed his faith.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the OCU cleric once again called for eating sausage during the fast.
