The head of the Information and Education Department of the UOC, Metropolitan Clement (Vecheria), commented on reports that Russia intends to send the relics of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Dmitry Donskoy, venerated by both the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), to the combat zone in Ukraine, reports Telegraf.
"I am certain that the saints from heaven see everything that happens on earth as it truly is. Good is evident to them as good, and evil deeds as evil. Political slogans that people use to justify their sinful actions have no significance for the saints. Their ministry is to lead people to God and to the truth,” said Metropolitan Clement.
According to him, regardless of who tries to attach militant meaning to the veneration of holy relics, no saint would ever help anyone in acts of outright aggression and killing. "May God grant that through the prayers of the saints, those who fire deadly weapons at the homes of peaceful Ukrainian civilians may realize the tragedy of what is happening and come to sincere repentance," the UOC hierarch concluded.
As the UOJ reported, the relics of Dmitry Donskoy, according to Russian media, were discovered during restoration works at the Archangel Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin.
