UOC hierarch comments on RF plans to send relics of Dmitry Donskoy to front

Metropolitan Clement (Vecheria), head of the UOC Information and Education Department, commented on reports that Russia plans to send the relics of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Dmitry Donskoy – venerated by both the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) – to the combat zone in Ukraine. This was reported by Telegraf.

“I am certain that the saints in heaven see everything happening on earth as it truly is. Good is plainly good to them, and evil deeds are evil. Political slogans by which people try to justify their sinful actions mean nothing to the saints. Their ministry is to lead people to God and the truth,” Metropolitan Clement said.

According to him, no matter who tries to attach militant meanings to the veneration of relics, no saint will help anyone in outright aggression and killing.

“God grant that, through the prayers of the saints, those who fire deadly weapons at the homes of peaceful Ukrainian civilians may realize the tragedy of what is happening and come to sincere repentance,” the UOC hierarch concluded.

As the UOJ reported, according to Russian media, the relics of Dmitry Donskoy were discovered during restoration work at the Archangel Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin.
