In the city of Lubny, Poltava region, TRC officers detained Father Anatoliy Bezrodnyi, rector of the Dormition churches in the villages of Shershnivka and Oleksandrivka of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the Pershyi Kozatskyi Telegram channel, citing parishioners of the priest.

According to available information, the 50-year-old priest was unlawfully detained on the evening of August 21 while walking down the street. Father Anatoliy is currently in the settlement of Chornukhy, but is reportedly due to be transferred to the city of Pyriatyn later in the evening.

Parishioners say the priest had been caring for his elderly parents and stress that the two parishes have now been left without the pastoral care of their rector.

As the UOJ reported, the TRC earlier commented on the mobilization of a UOC parish rector in Volyn.
