Archpriest Illia Soroka, head of the social department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Izium Eparchy, visited a family-type children’s home where nine children evacuated from the Kupiansk district are currently living, the eparchy’s press service reported.
The priest spoke with the children and their foster family and brought the children sweets and gifts. An entertainment program was also organized for them, which organizers said offered a chance to give the children attention, care, and positive emotions – especially important for those forced to leave their homes because of the war.
The eparchy noted that its social ministry is aimed at supporting families facing difficult life circumstances. Particular attention is given to children, with efforts focused on providing not only material but also spiritual support.
As the UOJ reported, the Izium Eparchy previously provided assistance to displaced people from frontline areas.
