Roads in Uman to be blocked due to Hasidic pilgrimage

The Cherkasy Regional Administration will restrict vehicle entry during the celebration of the Jewish New Year. Head of the Cherkasy Military Administration Ihor Taburets announced the introduction of a special movement regime from September 4 to 17.

Officials will close the passage from the M-30 highway onto Dereviyanko and Orekhova streets, as well as block the entrance from the village of Rodnikovka onto Pavlova street, and will allow drivers to travel along the Kyiv–Odesa road as far as Osvoboditelei street only upon presentation of a pilgrim's documents.

Law enforcement officers will deploy reinforced checkpoints at key junctions. In particular, officers will set up posts at the intersection of Horodetska and Maksym Zaliznyak streets, as well as at the entry points from the villages of Rodnikovka and Horodetske.

The authorities have also banned the sale of alcoholic beverages, pyrotechnics, knives, sharp and cutting objects, and pneumatic weapons in the pilgrimage area.

As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, the safety of the Hasidic pilgrimage to Uman is under the personal control of the president.
