Epifaniy awarded with ‘Golden Trident’ at seized Cherkasy cathedral

On September 7, OCU head Epifaniy Dumenko visited St. Michael’s Cathedral in Cherkasy, which had previously been seized by OCU supporters. At the conclusion of the events held in the church taken from the UOC, Dumenko was presented with an embroidered panel titled “Golden Trident.”
Nazariy Zasansky, the OCU parish “rector” who took part in beating believers during the seizure of the cathedral, and Eleonora Levytska, head of the OCU religious organization in Chervona Sloboda, presented the head of the structure with the exclusive handmade panel. The embroidery was created by Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleksandra Telizhenko.
According to the lofty description on a plaque attached to the embroidery, the panel represents a manifesto of the Ukrainian soul. In the center of the wheat-colored fabric is an embroidered trident rising from a “lush Baroque flowerpot.” According to the artist’s concept, the flowerpot symbolizes a kind of family tree. At the top of the panel are three radiant solar stars, which the creators call “silent amulets blessing us with the light of truth and hope.”
As the UOJ reported, Dumenko and government officials held a religious event at the seized Cherkasy cathedral.
