UOC Kryvyi Rih Eparchy marks 30th anniversary

On September 13, 2026, a solemn service was held in Kryvyi Rih to mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the 30th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Metropolitan Yefrem of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol, the eparchial press service reported.

Metropolitan Yefrem celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Transfiguration Cathedral. Concelebrating with him were Metropolitan Boholep of Oleksandriia and Svitlovodsk, Archbishop Yevlohiy of Novomoskovsk, vicar of the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy, as well as clergy and guests of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy.

At the Little Entrance, Metropolitan Yefrem presented several clergymen with liturgical and ecclesiastical awards in honor of the eparchy’s anniversary.

Following the Gospel reading, Metropolitan Yefrem delivered a sermon, while petitions for peace in Ukraine were offered during the Augmented Litany. After the Liturgy, the clergy and faithful held a procession to the monument to Hieromartyrs Onuphry and Porphyry, Bishops of Kryvyi Rih. There, the hierarchs laid a wreath and, together with Kryvyi Rih Mayor Yuriy Vilkul, lit vigil lamps in memory of the New Martyrs.

The Kryvyi Rih Eparchy was established in 1996 by a decision of the UOC Synod, separating it from the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy. Metropolitan Yefrem has headed the eparchy since its founding.

As the UOJ previously reported, the Metropolitan of Kryvyi Rih expressed condolences to those affected by shelling.
