UOC begins celebrations honoring St. Kuksha of Odesa

On September 28, 2026, a solemn All-Night Vigil was celebrated at the cathedral church of the Dormition Monastery in Odesa on the eve of the feast day of St. Kuksha, the Wonderworker of Odesa. The service was led by Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail, the eparchy’s press service reports.
Concelebrating with Metropolitan Agafangel were Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Metropolitan Varsonofy of Vinnytsia and Bar, Metropolitan Alexiy of Voznesensk and Pervomaisk, Archbishop Diodor of Yuzhne, Archbishop Viktor of Artsyz – abbot of the monastery, Archbishop Sergiy of Bolhrad, Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, Bishop Alipiy of Tarutyne, Bishop Anastasiy of Ovidiopol, Bishop Panteleimon of Baturyn, as well as numerous clergy of the Odesa Eparchy.
The faithful gathered at the monastery prayed together and had an opportunity to venerate the holy relics of St. Kuksha of Odesa, whose reliquary was placed in the center of the church. On the eve of the saint’s feast day, clergy and pilgrims asked for his heavenly intercession and prayers before the Throne of God for their homeland and for all who turn to the ascetic saint in faith.
As the UOJ reported, the day of the discovery of the relics of Venerable Gabriel of Athos was commemorated in Odessa.
