Kyiv’s Pechersk Police Department has decided to deploy additional officers to the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal during the October 7, 2026 hearing in the case concerning the UOC Kyiv Metropolia. Archpriest Nikita Chekman, a lawyer for the UOC, published the police response to the legal team’s request.
According to the document, “in order to properly maintain public order and ensure the safety of citizens, on October 7, 2026, the Pechersk Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv plans to deploy additional police units to the area adjacent to the building of the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal.”
The UOC lawyer contacted law enforcement over repeated provocations and pressure on the legal team outside the courthouse. In one previous incident, radicals blocked the lawyers inside a coffee shop and directly threatened them over their professional activities. The activists left only after police were called.
As the UOJ previously reported, a lawyer for the Lavra called on believers to show their support ahead of the upcoming court hearing.
