On October 12, 2026, Metropolitan Philip of Poltava and Myrhorod celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Horbanivka Monastery of the Mother of God, according to the Poltava Eparchy's press service. The service marked the feast of the Horbanivka Icon of the Mother of God and the Synaxis of the Saints of Poltava.
Concelebrating with the Metropolitan were deans and clergy of the Poltava Eparchy, visiting clergy, and clerics of the monastery. Among those praying at the service were Abbess Angelina, superior of the Horbanivka Monastery, and her sisters, as well as Abbess Mastridiia, superior of the Convent of the Exaltation of the Cross, and her monastic community.
During the Liturgy, special prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine.
Following the Liturgy, a festive religious procession took place. At the conclusion of the celebrations, the Metropolitan addressed the faithful with an archpastoral message and bestowed his blessing upon everyone.
The Horbanivka Icon of the Mother of God has long been venerated in the Poltava region, while the Synaxis of the Saints of Poltava commemorates the holy ascetics and other saints glorified in the region.
As the UOJ previously reported, clergy from the Kamianske and Poltava Eparchies of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church held charity events, delivering aid to children at a residential care facility and a rehabilitation center.
