On October 14, 2026, the feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Holy Protection Monastery in Kharkiv celebrated its 300th anniversary, according to the Kharkiv Eparchy’s website.
The festive service was led by Metropolitan Onufriy of Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv, who celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Ozerianska Icon of the Mother of God. Before the service, the hierarch, clergy, and faithful walked in a cross procession from the bishop’s residence to the church.
Concelebrating with the metropolitan were the monastery’s abbot and brethren, along with clergy of the Kharkiv Eparchy. Special prayers were offered during the Liturgy for peace in Ukraine, deliverance from enemies, protection and support for Ukrainian soldiers, assistance to those who have lost their homes, and all who work to help the Ukrainian people.
At the conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Onufriy congratulated the abbot, brethren, clergy, and all those present on the feast of the Protection of the Theotokos and the monastery’s anniversary. He delivered an archpastoral address to the faithful and invoked God’s blessing upon them.
Following Holy Communion, the metropolitan joined the clergy and laity in a festive service of praise and the prayer “O My Most Blessed Queen.”
That same day, Metropolitan Onufriy opened an exhibition dedicated to the monastery’s 300th anniversary. The exhibits highlight major milestones in the monastery’s history, tracing its founding, development, and spiritual heritage.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Kharkiv Eparchy hosted a forum for volunteers and social workers.
