Serhii Dumenko spoke optimistically about the prospects of the OCU's recognition by all Local Churches. According to him, this will happen after the end of the war, because Russia will "fall apart."

The former Commander-in-Chief gifted Sviatoslav Shevchuk his book.

The journalist reminded him that only 4 Churches have recognized the OCU and asked why this process has "slowed down." "We will see that after this war ends, other Local Churches will grant recognition. Unfortunately, Moscow exerts influence, and we can clearly see this. And some Orthodox Churches are still under Russian influence," Dumenko replied.

"But when, following the end of this war, as we believe, Russia breaks apart and no longer has such influence and power, other Churches will also join the process of recognizing our autocephaly," the OCU head added.

The OCU head also stated that the Ukrainian state is involved in the recognition process. "Through joint efforts at various levels, we are working in this direction," he said, adding that much is not made public "because when Moscow finds out, it begins to persistently obstruct." According to him, "the Ukrainian state is interested in this and is assisting and helping."

Recall that the UOJ previously wrote that in June 2026, during a discussion at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Academy in Berlin, Dumenko predicted the collapse of Russia and the recognition of the OCU by the Russian Church.
