The German Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), with the blessing of Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany, has launched a fundraiser for a convent near the Sviatohirsk Lavra, where the nuns are facing severe food shortages and hunger, UOJ-Germany reports.
The appeal was shared through the Telegram channel of the St. Panteleimon Orthodox community in Cologne. The eparchy explained that ongoing fighting has made food deliveries to the convent, located near the front line, extremely difficult. Supplies have even had to be delivered to the nuns by drone.
The dire conditions have left the nuns on the brink of starvation, and the fundraiser aims to help purchase and deliver essential supplies. The faithful and anyone willing to help have been encouraged to make donations to the church foundation's account.
As the UOJ previously reported, UOC volunteers delivered 30 tons of humanitarian aid from Bukovyna to the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
