Polish activists are calling for criminal penalties for promoting the ideology of the OUN-UPA, placing it on par with Nazism and communism.

The reason for the blacklisting was the deputy's initiative to declare 2027 in Lviv Region the Year of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), its commander-in-chief Roman Shukhevych, and OUN figure Oleh Olzhych.

The head of the Polish diplomatic service also called Sheremeta a "reenactor of the Waffen-SS Division 'Galicia'" and recalled that UPA leaders, in particular Shukhevych, issued orders for deportations and mass killings of the Polish population.

The decision to glorify the UPA was adopted by the Lviv Regional Council at a plenary session, where Sheremeta, who heads the culture commission, called the leaders of nationalist formations heroes whose memory must be honored.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that an anti-UPA and Bandera rally was held in Poland after a Catholic priest's murder.
