On October 24, 2026, Metropolitan Varsonofy of Vinnytsia and Bar performed the rite of great consecration of the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Luka Barska, Vinnytsia Region. The Vinnytsia Eparchy's press service reported the event.
Following the consecration, the hierarch celebrated the first Divine Liturgy in the new church. Special prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, the protection of Ukrainian soldiers' lives, and the entire Ukrainian people.
At the Little Entrance, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, the church's rector, Archpriest Ioann Kryvonych, was granted the right to wear a second jeweled pectoral cross.
At the conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Varsonofy delivered a sermon to the clergy and faithful. He congratulated the rector, parishioners, and all those present on the church's consecration. The archpastor expressed his hope that the new church would become a place of heartfelt prayer, spiritual comfort, and unity in Christ.
The metropolitan also recognized those who had made special contributions to the church's construction and preparation. Benefactors and active parishioners received certificates of appreciation from the Primate of the UOC and the ruling hierarch.
As the UOJ previously reported, Metropolitan Varsonofy had earlier consecrated All Saints Church in Vinnytsia.
