Around 500 Ukrainian Orthodox Church faithful took part in a 25-kilometer religious procession from Chernivtsi to a men's monastery in the village of Kolenkivtsi, according to the Facebook community "Faithful of the UOC Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy."
The procession set out from Chernivtsi on October 24, 2026, the eve of the feast of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. Pilgrims made their way in prayer to the UOC Monastery of Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr in Kolenkivtsi.
Along the way, participants prayed for peace in Ukraine, the country's defenders, Bukovyna, their families, and the entire UOC. The Facebook community noted that the monastery's chapel is dedicated to the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, giving the pilgrimage special spiritual significance on the eve of the feast.
The post also described every step of the journey as a testament to living faith and spiritual unity. Its authors emphasized that at a difficult time for the country, prayer brings people together and strengthens their hope in God's help.
As previously reported by the UOJ, a religious procession to Boyany Monastery took place in Bukovyna. The Iveron Icon of the Mother of God takes its name from Iviron Monastery on Mount Athos, where a revered copy of the icon is kept.
