In Kharkiv, officers from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) and police allegedly severely beat and abducted Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) cleric Archimandrite Volodymyr (Subbota), according to the Pershyi Kozatskyi Telegram channel.
Eyewitnesses said the monk was seized outside a church he and his congregation are building in the city. Parishioners tried to protect their priest, but police and recruitment officers allegedly beat the believers as well.
According to the Telegram channel, Archimandrite Volodymyr sustained serious injuries and has dangerously elevated blood sugar levels. An ambulance was reportedly called twice to the TRC facility where he is being held.
Parishioners are demanding the priest's release, while Fr. Volodymyr's mother has asked everyone to pray for him.
The UOJ previously reported that during the mobilization of a cathedral cleric in Kremenchuk, TRC officers sprayed him with gas and injured his ribs.
