Metropolitan Ireney of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad has expressed condolences to the families of those killed and injured in a strike on the railway station in Dnipro, the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy reports.
“It was with profound sorrow that I learned of the tragic consequences of the enemy strike on Dnipro railway station, which claimed lives and brought suffering to many of our fellow citizens,” the hierarch said in his statement.
On behalf of the eparchy's clergy and faithful, Metropolitan Ireney extended his condolences to the bereaved families and called for prayers for the healing of the wounded and comfort for all those affected.
He also wished spiritual strength to those in mourning and expressed hope that the Lord would grant His help to everyone facing this difficult ordeal.
On the morning of October 29, a jet-powered drone struck a commuter train and a passenger train at a platform in Dnipro railway station, killing 14 people and injuring another 14.
Thirteen of the injured were hospitalized, six in serious condition. Among them was an 11-year-old boy. All sustained multiple shrapnel wounds.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Nizhyn Eparchy had launched a fundraiser to help victims of an attack in Pryluky.
