A funeral service for Fr Andrii Korynchuk, a priest killed in the war, to be held at UOC Resurrection Cathedral in Kovel.

According to UOJ sources, doctors insisted that the cleric be hospitalized immediately, particularly because his blood sugar had reached a critically high level of 23 mmol/L the previous day. However, TRC officials refused to release him for medical treatment.

According to people close to the archimandrite, recruitment center personnel responded: “He can drop dead here tonight for all we care.”

Officials have since given conflicting accounts of his status – at times promising to release the monk on medical grounds, and at others declaring him a serviceman who would be assigned to an administrative records department.

As previously reported, on October 29, 2026, TRC officers and police in Kharkiv severely beat and detained Archimandrite Volodymyr outside a church he has been building with his parish community. Parishioners tried to protect their pastor, but recruitment officers also brutally beat several believers before taking the archimandrite to the recruitment center.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Lubny TRC had ignored an appeal from parishioners of an abducted priest.
