Volyn Eparchy holds annual Pokrov Sunday School Festival
Sunday school students from six UOC parishes gathered in Lutsk for the festival, along with their teachers, parents, and clergy.
On Sunday, October 18, 2026, the annual Pokrov [Protection] Sunday School Festival was held with the blessing of Metropolitan Nafanael of Volyn and Lutsk, the Volyn Eparchy’s press service reported. The celebration brought together Sunday school students, their teachers, parents, clergy, and young people from various parishes across the eparchy.
The festival opened with welcoming remarks by Archimandrite Elijah (Vyshnevskyi), director of the Sunday school at the Church of the Intercession in Lutsk. The youngest participants, a group called Little Hearts, were the first to perform. Sunday school teachers also staged an interactive play for the audience.
Students and young people from other Sunday schools presented musical performances. Fr. Maksym Klimchuk hosted an educational quiz for adults, with prizes for the winners.
Throughout the day, children and adults enjoyed workshops, games, and other activities. Guests were treated to kulish, a traditional Ukrainian porridge, and sweet treats. At the end of the festival, all the children received gifts provided with the support of charitable donors.
Participating Sunday schools represented the Cathedral of All Saints of Volyn (NIKA), the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, and the Church of the Three Holy Hierarchs in Lutsk; St. Andrew’s Church in Strumivka; St. Demetrius Church in Vyshniv; and St. Nicholas Church in Kovel.
As the UOJ previously reported, the UOC’s Volyn Eparchy held its Favor Youth Festival this summer.
