Kyiv’s Vvedensky Monastery damaged in shelling, two injured
A cluster munition struck the monastery, injuring a cook and a kitchen assistant and damaging the facade, the roof of the monks’ residential building, and several monastic cells.
The Vvedensky Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kyiv was damaged during an overnight attack on October 22, 2026. According to UOJ, shrapnel struck the facade, the roof of the monks’ residential building, and several cells on the top floor. Windows were also shattered.
Two people were injured by small metal balls from the munition: a woman working as a cook was wounded in the leg, while a man assisting in the kitchen sustained a back injury. Both were hospitalized, and the woman has since been discharged. None of the monastery’s monks were injured.
The monastery is located in the Lypky neighborhood, near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The attack also damaged buildings, ambulances, and a café in Kyiv’s Pechersk district.
As the UOJ previously reported, Kyiv’s Vvedensky Monastery was closed to visitors due to provocations. UOJ also reported earlier that the SBU had conducted searches at the monastery.
