Shevchuk tells Pope Leo of Ukraine's preparations for "another harsh winter"
The head of the UGCC expressed "special gratitude" to the Pope for his phone calls with Putin and Zelensky.
The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk met in the Vatican with Pope Leo XIV, with whom he discussed the demographic crisis and preparations for the coming winter in Ukraine.
During a private audience in the library of the Apostolic Palace, the head of the Uniates told the Pope about Ukraine's preparations for "another harsh winter" and asked the pontiff for support and solidarity from the international Catholic community in conditions of wartime and humanitarian crisis.
Shevchuk also spoke about the demographic and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and expressed «special gratitude» to the head of the Roman Catholic Church for his recent phone calls with Putin and Zelensky.
During the audience, the head of the UGCC presented the pontiff with several postage stamps, a photo album and a book by a combat veteran.
As the UOJ reported, Shevchuk believes that the winter may become the harshest in Ukraine's recent history, but Kyiv residents will learn to live without electricity, water and heat.
