UOC West European Vicariate holds children's camp in Germany
A children’s camp was held in the UOC’s Western Deanery in Germany from October 19 to 23.
The Western European Vicariate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church organized a children’s camp in Germany from October 19 to 23, according to a post on the vicariate’s Facebook page.
The camp participants received a visit from the dean, Archpriest Sergiy Haievskyi. During the visit, he celebrated a moleben with the reading of an akathist to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Together with the priest, the children prayed for peace in Ukraine, for their families, and for all those suffering because of the war. According to the post, the shared prayer became a moment of unity marked by the children’s sincerity, hope, and love for their homeland.
Following the prayer service, Fr. Sergiy spent time talking with the campers. He also expressed appreciation to those who had helped organize the camp.
Such gatherings are especially meaningful for Ukrainian children living abroad. According to the organizers, they help children maintain ties to their native language and Church traditions, strengthen friendships, and foster a sense of belonging to their community.
As the UOJ previously reported, UOC eparchies organized Orthodox summer camps for children earlier this year.
