Kyiv’s Intercession Convent honors its founder, St. Anastasia
The abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra led celebrations at Kyiv’s Intercession Convent on the feast day of its founder.
The Holy Intercession Convent in Kyiv held celebrations honoring its founder, Venerable Grand Duchess Anastasia, on her feast day, the UOC Information Center reports.
Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, presided over the Divine Liturgy, concelebrating with UOC hierarchs, monastery clergy, and visiting priests. Abbess Kalisfenia (Shamailo) and the convent’s sisters joined the faithful in prayer.
Following the Gospel reading, Metropolitan Pavel delivered a sermon. During the Litany of Fervent Supplication, special prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine and God’s mercy upon soldiers and all those suffering hardship.
During the Litany for the Departed, prayers were offered for the ever-memorable Metropolitan Volodymyr (Sabodan), Schema-Archbishop Alipiy (Pohrebniak), who reposed in the Lord five years ago, and all departed Orthodox Christians, including Ukraine’s fallen defenders, civilians, and children killed in the war.
The service concluded with hymns of praise before the reliquary containing the relics of St. Anastasia. Metropolitan Pavel then conveyed feast-day greetings to the faithful on behalf of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
Earlier, UOJ reported that Metropolitan Onuphry had presided over the patronal feast celebrations at Kyiv’s Intercession Convent.
