TRC officers in Kharkiv have released seriously ill UOC Archimandrite Volodymyr (Subbota).

Officers of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) in Kharkiv have released Archimandrite Volodymyr (Subbota) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who had reportedly been abducted, UOJ sources say. The priest's relatives have thanked the faithful for their fervent prayers.

Catherine Whiteford says UOC priests are sent to the front lines despite authorities knowing they are clergy, only for their deaths to be blamed on Russian forces.

As previously reported, on October 29, 2026, TRC officers and police allegedly beat and abducted Archimandrite Volodymyr outside a church he and his parishioners are building. Recruitment officers also reportedly beat parishioners who tried to protect their priest before taking him to a TRC facility.

While being held at the TRC, the priest's blood sugar reportedly rose to 23 mmol/L. Emergency medical personnel diagnosed him with a pre-infarction condition and insisted that he be hospitalized immediately.

The UOJ previously reported that a UOC hierarch had raised concerns at the United Nations over discriminatory mobilization practices in Ukraine.
